(Reynolds County) The Dream Team is nothing new to Ellington basketball star Kaylee King but calling herself the Girls Basketball Dream Team Player of the Year will take some getting used to.
King is a Dream Teamer for the third straight year but the highest ranking was bestowed upon her for the first time after helping her team to a Class 2 State Runner-Up finish while averaging 28 points per game.
King says she heard her name called while listening to J98 The Boot.
The junior followed up the 2021 State Championship season by shooting 55% from the field and 43% from three. King says she worked on all aspects of her game during the off-season.
King saved one of her best performances for last in the state semifinal victory over St. Paul Concordia. She scored 29 points and made 7 threes.
Part of this journey for King has been spending it with her assistant coach and mother, Paula King.
Ellington ended the year with a 25-5 record.
