Emergency responders exercise caution with anticipated winter weather

(Festus/Crystal City) Like many people, first responders are watching the forecast closely as the next winter storm system makes its way into the Midwest.

No matter what precipitation ends up falling and no matter how much accumulation we receive, Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis has this advice to anyone who travels Wednesday through Thursday.

Crystal City Police Chief Chad Helms adds they will be out patrolling regardless.

As of right now the National Weather Service is calling for around 2 inches of snow/sleet accumulation.

The winter storm is expected to push out of the region by late Thursday night.
