Encouraging Signs for Fox Wrestling Program as Season Continues into 2020

(ARNOLD) Matt McKinney’s first year as head coach of the Fox wrestling program is going pretty okay considering Dylan Looney, Luke Joggerst, and Joey Johnson graduated last season, guys that combined had multiple state qualifications and a couple of top 4 finishes in their careers as well.

Coach McKinney has a few varsity returners in the 113, 152, and 182-pound weight classes.

Coach McKinney adds that he is excited to be building around these guys and to have them as program leaders.

Coach McKinney talks about his 285-pound wrestler in junior Mason Petty. Petty put in a lot of mat time over the summer as the freshman-sophomore heavyweight for Team Missouri. He also started off the season with a 1st-place finish in the Ron Sauer Invitational.

The Fox boys are 2-4 in duals so far this season with a home dual tomorrow at 5 p.m. against Northwest.

Coach McKinney has 6 girls on this year’s squad.

No tournament medals for any of the girls at Fox though Coach McKinney does have a little praise for Sheila.

The Fox girls will also be facing Northwest in a dual tomorrow at 5 p.m. at Fox High School.
