Execution Carried Out at Bonne Terre Prison

(Bonne Terre) Missouri carried out the execution of Johnny Johnson by lethal injection Tuesday evening in Bonne Terre.

Johnson was declared dead at 6:33.

The 45-year-old was convicted in the 2002 kidnapping, murder, and attempted rape of six-year-old Cassandra Casey Williamson in the St. Louis County town of Valley Park.

Johnson’s final statement said, “God bless. Sorry to the people and family I hurt.”

Johnson and his attorney attempted to block the execution, including for persistent mental health problems.

Those efforts were rejected.

Tuesday’s execution of Johnson was the 136th person Missouri has put to death, including the fourth this year at the prison in Bonne Terre.
