Experts Predict Mild Winter & Drought

(Farmington) Weather experts expect two-thirds of the country, including Missouri, to have a warmer than normal winter.

Here’s Mike Halpert of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Prediction Center.

However, drought is also being predicted for our immediate future.

Currently, according to the USDA Drought Monitor Map, moderate drought is creeping onto edges of the listening area.

Moderate drought is being reported on the southwestern edge of Dent County.

It’s also being reported in the northwestern tip of Jefferson County along with most of St. Louis County.

Much of the listening area, except for a good chunk of Bollinger and all of Wayne, is currently seeing abnormally dry conditions.

We are one month away from the start of winter.
