Familiar Foes Meet In The Class 4 District 2 Semifinals On KREI

(Ste. Genevieve) Monday evening on KREI, it’s a double-header at Yanks’ Field in Ste. Genevieve for the Class 4 District 2 Semifinals. In our first game of the day, The top seed in the district 25-7 Valle Catholic Warriors face the 4-seed 10-17-1 Potosi Trojans. Immediately following that game, the two and three seeds clash as the 18-3 Central Rebels face 14-9 Ste. Genevieve.

Valle Catholic has been tested of late with five of their last six games being decided by two runs or less. The Warriors have won four of those games including 5-4 walk-off win over Potosi in the MAAA tournament. That’s the only loss the Trojans have suffered over their last six games, a mightily turnaround after losing 16 of their first 22 games this season. Potosi coach Steve McCoy says his team is ready for another shot at the top seed in the district…

The nightcap features a Central Rebels squad that hasn’t lost since March 31st. The 9th ranked team in Class 4 have won 17 straight, including two wins against a top-5 ranked opponent in a lower class. A veteran team with seven seniors has been instrumental to the success for the Rebels, says head coach Ronnie Calvird…

On the other side of the coin, it’s been an up and down season for Ste. Genevieve. The Dragons have gone 5-5 in their last ten games, but have a little bit of momentum heading into districts. The Green and White have won two straight and are looking for revenge against Central, who defeated them 4-3 in both meetings this year.

The Class 4 District 2 Semifinals on KREI begins at 4:15 Monday evening with the Fliegs Equipment Pregame Show. You can also stream all our broadcast games online at MyMoInfo.com.
