Farmington Baseball 5-3 Over North County on KREI

(Farmington) The Farmington Knights baseball team beat North County 5-3 Thursday at Wilson Rozier ballpark in Farmington and Justin Mattingly earned his second consecutive complete game win in the process. The Knights looked like they would take a big lead early when leadoff hitter Jeremiah Cunningham tripled and then scored on an error. The Knights then loaded the bases with three straight walks with nobody out. However North County pitcher Jobe Smith worked out of the jam with only one run surrendered. Cunningham continued swinging a hot bat in his second at bat…

North County cut into the lead with a pair runs with back to back doubles in the third, but Farmington responded with another long ball…

McDowell finished 2/2 with two driven in, two runs and two stolen bases.
Mattingly went all seven innings. He gave up three runs, six hits. He struck out three and didn’t walk a man.

Farmington coach Josh Hoehn likes Mattingly’s focus…

Farmington improves to 5-5 and 3-0 in the MAAA. They play at Central Tuesday for at least a share of the conference title. North County falls to 1-8 and 1-2 in the MAAA. They’ll play at Fredericktown on Tuesday.
