Farmington Declares Civil Emergency

(Farmington) Farmington Mayor Larry Forsythe issued a proclamation Tuesday of civil emergency. The declaration allows certain actions to be taken by the city and its law enforcement to safeguard the public, such as; issue a reduction of utilities, close certain businesses or even issue a curfew. Farmington city administrator Greg Beavers says so far the civil emergency is only dealing with closure of the city parks…

Beavers says the mayor’s proclamation gives the city some teeth in enforcement…

While the civil emergency gives the mayor, and by extension the city government, a wide range of powers, Beavers doesn’t anticipate having to utilize them…
