Farmington Honors 1983 Championship Baseball Team

(Farmington) On Friday before the final game of their wood bat tournament, Farmington honored its 1983 championship baseball team. 16 members and coaches of that team reunited at Wilson Rozier Stadium. The Black Knight media class produced an audio recap of the 7-6 victory over Duchesne complete with original audio from Regional radio’s broadcast by Ken Kujawa.

Head coach of the team David Cramp joined us on the air during our broadcast of the Knights game against Hazelwood West. Farmington was not predicted to win state at the beginning of that season. In fact the Knights weren’t even picked to win their conference…

Cramp described the run through the playoffs by his ace, Paul Amonette…

Cramp says Joe Pfister demonstrated great skill on that team…

In addition to Pfister, several players went on to play at the college level..

The Knights stubbed their toe right before the playoffs started…

The 1983 players and coaches each received a championship ring from the school at the ceremony and all the players simultaneously threw out a first pitch to a current Farmington player.
