Farmington moves on to Class 5 District 1 girls’ title game

(DeSoto) The Farmington Knightettes punched their ticket back to a championship game after beating Sikeston 52-40 in the Class 5 District 1 girls’ basketball semifinals Wednesday night on J98.

Farmington produced an excellent offensive first half, powered by performances like that of junior point guard Anna McKinney.

What really put the Knightettes over the top was a dominant rebounding effort, lead by junior forward Angelia Davis.

Davis finished with a team-high 16 points and was the Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game.

Farmington head coach Rusty Sancegraw says Davis had evolved into a low-post threat.

The 4th-ranked Knightettes improve to 18-3.

In the second semifinal, the North County Raiders fell 67-39 to Cape Notre Dame.

Despite a 24-point game from senior forward Kamryn Winch, the Raiders couldn’t keep up with the Bulldogs.

North County trailed by 16 at halftime and never recovered.

The ninth-ranked Raiders finish the season at 18-7.

Number-five Cape Notre Dame will face Farmington in a battle of state-ranked squads for the Class 5 District 1 championship Friday night on J98.
