FARM/CAPE CENTRAL POSTGAME ZACH1 9/30/23
The Farmington Knights football team could not get things started offensively, as the Cape Central Tigers rolled to a 35-0 win. The Tigers rushed for nearly 350 yards in Friday night’s game, and it was all started by a 31 yard strike from running back Zai’Are Thomas.
That was the first of three touchdowns from Thomas in the game. His teammate, Keyshaun Boyd, entered the contest with 13 rushing scores on the year. He added two more trips to the endzone, including this one to make it 14-0.
Farmington, on the other hand, was unable to control the line of scrimmage. As the game progressed Coach Kruppe made the decision to pull out a handful of starters, including quarterback Brett Drye, who has been battling an ankle injury the last few weeks. The Knights offense only compiled about 130 yards on the night.
Coach Kruppe says Farmington had an off night.
Coach Kent Gibbs of Cape Central was pleased with his team’s bounce-back win after a tough game with Jackson last week.
Cape Central looks to pick up another win next week on the road against Sikeston. Farmington will host a scrappy Poplar Bluff team next week.
