(HILLSBORO, Mo.) – In a back-and-forth battle Wednesday afternoon on Regional Radio, the Farmington Knights softball team upset the Hillsboro Hawks 6-5 on the road. Farmington’s Abby Robbins got the scoring started with a big hit in the second inning.

Hillsboro had an answer later in the fourth inning. Trailing 2-1 with the bases loaded, Julianna Johnson stepped up to the plate.

In the following inning, Farmington struck back with a game-tying homer by Sloane Elam, then executed a double-steal later in the inning to take the lead. Robbins then came back up and provided some insurance.

Both teams added a run in the sixth, and the Knights held on for the win with Jocelyn Cunningham pitching the full seven innings. Knights coach Bryan Wallen says this was a confidence-boosting victory for his group.

Farmington improved to 3-3 overall with the win while Hillsboro is now 7-2. The Hawks take on Perryville Thursday in Hillsboro, while the Knights will participate in the Seckman tournament starting Friday.
