Farmington Stays Perfect With 29-28 Thriller at St. Dominic

(O’Fallon) The Farmington Knights remained undefeated with a thrilling 29-28 comeback win at St. Dominic on AM 800 KREI. The Knights tied the Crusaders after the first three scores, but didn’t lead until 14 seconds were left. Jackson Overton scored on St. Dominic’s first possession with 37 yard trot, but the Knights answered immediately on the legs of quarterback Kaden Files.

Files and Overton battled all night to see who would gain more yards. Overton finished with 165 on 20 carries but only had 16 in the second half. Files gained 189 on 28 carries.

The two traded scores all night. St. Dominic went ahead for the final time with an eight yard pass from Gabe Serri to Tate Cross. Farmington got the ball back with 5:21 left and 68 yards away from the endzone. They melted the clock with a monumental 13 play drive. Farmington completed their only pass when flanker Jake Bishop threw a reverse pass and Brady Cook came up with the play of the night.

Brayden Bodkin punched it in two plays later with 14 seconds left. Farmington originally decided to kick and go to overtime. The extra point was successful, but coach Erik Kruppe reconsidered after a roughing the kicker penalty.

Farmington Coach Erik Kruppe was thrilled with the win…..
