Farmington to Provide Shelter Wednesday if Tornado or Extreme Severe Thunderstorm Warnings are Issued

(Farmington) The City of Farmington is prepared for the possibility of extreme severe weather Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency Management Director Tim Porter sent a news release to Regional Radio that says if there is a tornado warning or a Tier III thunderstorm warning, the City of Farmington will provide shelter at Farmington City Hall on West Columbia Street between 8 and 4:30 Wednesday.

Shelter can also be found at the Farmington Police Station at 310 Ste. Genevieve Avenue, the Farmington Fire Station at 222 East Columbia Street and at FEMA shelters at Truman Learning Center at 209 West College Street and at Jefferson Elementary School at 2 Summit Drive in Farmington.

In the news release, Porter says “the shelters are for anyone who does not feel safe where he or she is if severe weather impacts Farmington Wednesday.”

Porter goes on to say “if you feel like you don’t have adequate shelter if there’s a tornado warning or severe thunderstorm warning, we want you to have a safe place to take shelter in Farmington.”
