(FARMINGTON) – The fall softball season came to an end for the Farmington Knights after an upset loss to the Poplar Bluff Mules 7-6 in the Class 4 District 1 tournament Wednesday on KREI. Farmington jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, capped off by an RBI hit from McKenna Wallace.

Poplar Bluff quickly answered with five unanswered runs through the next four innings. The Knights didn’t score again until the fifth, when Wallace had a chance with the tying run in scoring position.

Farmington took the lead after that with a bases-loaded walk, but the Mules responded again with a two-run sixth and kept the lead for good. Farmington coach Bryan Wallen saID they had too many missed opportunities.

Farmington ends the season with an 18-9 overall record. Poplar Bluff will take on Northwest in the district semifinals Thursday.
