Farmington Volleyball Are MAAA Tournament Champions, Top Seed In District Tournament

(Ste. Genevieve) The Farmington Knights were crowned champions of the MAAA volleyball tournament Tuesday night. The Gold Bracket was played at Ste. Genevieve High School and Farmington received the #2 seed. They met #3 Valle Catholic in the semifinals and swept the Warriors in two sets.

Farmington coach Haley Baker says her team bounced back after a slow start.

That setup a championship rematch against #1 Ste. Genevieve. Farmington lost to Ste. Gen in a five-set thriller during the regular season, but the Knights took round two on Tuesday in two sets.

Baker says they were hoping to see Ste. Genevieve in the championship.

Up next for Farmington is the Class 4 District 1 tournament that kicks off on Friday. Farmington is the #1 seed and the tournament will be played at Farmington High School.

Baker says they’ll try to ride the momentum from the conference tournament into the district tournament.

Farmington will play #8 Sikeston in the first round on Friday. The Knights are 27-7-2 on the year.
