Farmington Volleyball Off To A Hot Start

(Farmington) Farmington Volleyball is off to a hot start this season, the Knights are 11-3-1 and finished 2nd at the SEMO Dig For Life tournament last weekend. The defending Class 4 District 1 Champions played 7 games in the span of two days, and only lost in the championship game to Saxony Lutheran. Head Coach Haley Baker says her girls were exhausted by Saturday, but showed no signs of quitting.

The Knights are led by three seniors who are accustomed to success. Outside hitters Jelena Gray and Grace Duncan have combined for 170 kills and 184 digs while middle back Jade Roth leads the team in kill percentage at 56%. Coach Baker says these seniors can put on a show any night on the court.

Roth, Grey, and Duncan started for the past two-district championship teams for Farmington and are looking for their third in a row this year.

Farmington is ranked 22nd in the state in volleyball on MaxPreps, but the listening area boasts seven other schools that are in the MaxPreps Top-50 in Missouri. Coach Baker says it won’t be easy to three-peat, but looks forward to the challenge.

Farmington volleyball faces 7th ranked district foe, St. Pius, on Wednesday in Festus.
