Farmington’s Blanton Comments on Being Named Applebee’s of Farmington Athlete of the Week

(Farmington) The Farmington boys basketball team swept their three games last week and took down some talented teams along the way.

Junior point guard Bracey Blanton stood out the most for the Knights as he commanded the offense and played lock-down on defense en route to being named our Applebee’s of Farmington Athlete of the Week.

He says his teammates deserve a lot of credit for the recognition.

Across the team’s three wins against DeSoto, Pacific, and Cape Notre Dame, Blanton averaged 15.3 points per game, 8 assists, and 5.3 rebounds.

He was great in the first two, but it was the game against Notre Dame where he made the biggest impact.

He poured in 23 points that night and shot 6-of-8 from distance while playing the entire game and guarding the Bulldogs’ best guard.

He also drilled the final three-pointer of the game with 90 seconds remaining to give the Knights the breathing room they needed to hold on for the win.

Blanton says the team was firing on all cylinders that night.

While Blanton does a little bit of everything for Farmington at the point guard position, he says his favorite part of the game is competing.

As the Applebee’s of Farmington Athlete of the Week, Blanton received a T-shirt, a certificate, and a coupon good for one free entree at Applebee’s in Farmington.
