Fatal Crash For Salem Man in Phelps County

(Jerome) A man from Salem was killed following a two vehicle crash Thursday on I-44 westbound in Phelps County.

The Highway Patrol says the accident happened at mile marker 170 near Jerome when a 2004 Kawasaki driven by 54-year-old Thomas Zielinski of Salem ran off the road and overturned, throwing Zielinski from the vehicle.

The Kawasaki continued into the eastbound lane and was struck by a Kia Sedona driven by 74-year-old Gail Peterson of Milwaukee.

She was not injured but Zielinski was pronounced dead after he had been taken to Phelps County Health Center in Rolla.
