February is American Heart Month

February is American Heart Month, and Friday, the first Friday of February, is National Wear Red Day.

Dr. Bassem Mikhail is an Interventional Cardiologist at Mercy Hospital Jefferson.

He says both heart month and wear red day bring attention to heart disease, the leading cause of death in the U.S. for both men and women.

The good news is there is ways to have yourself screened for heart disease.
