Fenton Man Sentenced For Death of Bonne Terre Mother, Father & Infant

(Farmington) The man who killed a Bonne Terre couple and their baby will serve an 8-year prison sentence.

28-year old David Thurby of Fenton was convicted of 3 counts of 2nd degree involuntary manslaughter from intoxication in the accident.

On April 13th, 2021 his vehicle rear-ended a car driven by 25-year old Lacey Newton that contained her fiance, 30-year old Cordell Williams and their 4-month old son.

The three died after their car crashed into a tree and caught fire on Highway 30 near Byrnes Mill Road in Jefferson County.

The couple is survived by two sons, ages 4 and 5.

The result of that accident has led to Missouri House Bill 195 sponsored by State Representative Mike Henderson of Desloge.

It would require persons convicted of driving while intoxicated to pay child maintenance to the survivors.
