Festus 253 starts 2020 baseball season

A new season of Festus 253 baseball is finally getting underway, even though the circumstances are different.

The coronavirus pandemic not only delayed the start of the season, but it caused the American Legion to pull their sponsorship of teams, as well as the postseason tournaments.

So Festus will be participating in Babe Ruth Baseball this summer.

But head coach Zac Bone says, as far as the roster goes, not much has changed.

Top pitchers Jordan Duncan and Levi Ebersoldt return for Festus to lead the rotation, and Bone belives Jefferson‘s Colby Ott will be factor at the plate.

Bone also thinks a pair of Tigers will step up from the junior team and have an impact this summer in Festus‘s Cole Wagner and Collin Reando.

Festus opens the season with a doubleheader against Union Monday night at West City Park.

253 is back in action Tuesday evening as they visit Charleston. You can hear a full interview with head coach Zac Bone by clicking play below.
