Festus #253 stymies Ste. Gen #150 on Regional Radio

Festus Post 253 came through with a big district victory Tuesday night, knocking off Ste. Genevieve #150 5-2 on Regional Radio.

Pitching dominated a scoreless first 3 innings, but Festus was able to eventually jump in front.

Ste. Genevieve would respond in the very next half-inning.

But Festus would retake the lead, taking advantage of 5 walks in the bottom of the fifth to score 4 runs.

That would be all the cushion that pitcher Hunter Bassin would need.

Bassin allowed only one earned run in a complete-game victory and struck out nine with no walks.

The Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game said a recently-learned slider has become a key to his success.

Festus improves to 11-6 overall and is now tied for second in District 13 with Ste. Genevieve, with both teams posting a 4-3 district record.

Ste. Gen falls to 12-5 overall.
