Festus Advances in Class 4 D 1 Playoffs With Win Over De Soto
(FESTUS) The Festus Tigers with a record of (7-3) will host the (1-9) Sikeston Bulldogs Friday night November 3rd in the next round of the Class 4 District 1 football playoffs. The Tigers won at home Friday over De Soto 41-0. The Dragons ended their season with record of (1-9).
Landen Yates got the Tigers off to a good start when he scored on this 20 yard pass from Jeremiah Cunningham.
Tiger running back Avery Edwards scored at the 10:15 mark in the second quarter on a one yard run and Essian Smith scored with five minutes to play in the half to put the Tigers up 21-0.
Festus was able to score two T-D’s in the third quarter and they added another with 7:17 left in the game. Festus head coach A.J. O’Fodile says the Tigers defense looked good.
As for the next opponent for the Tigers, O’Fodile says Sikeston is a well coached team who will bring a good game.
O’Fodile says the team still has areas in which to improve.
De Soto head coach Russ Schmidt says despite the overall record, the Dragons showed progressed and maturity.
On the Regional Radio Endzone Program, Schmidt wanted to recognize his seniors.
