Festus and Crystal City both both considering a use tax in April

(Festus, Crystal City) Both Festus and Crystal City are strongly considering a city use tax to be placed on the April election ballot on internet sales. Festus City Administrator Greg Camp says residents took part in a survey to give input on what they would like to see done to improve the city even more. Camp says a use tax would create a solid funding mechanism for those city improvements.

Crystal City City Administrator Jason Eisenbeis says they are likely going down the same path.

The Missouri Legislature passed a use tax during this past legislative session, but that was geared toward state sales tax and not local taxes. Residents of both Festus and Crystal City could see a use tax issue on the April ballot.
