Festus Athletic Director Eric Allen Comments on Russ Schmidt Resigning from Post as Varsity Head Coach

(FESTUS) Festus R-VI Varsity Head Football Coach Russ Schmidt has submitted his resignation to the Board of Education, ending his 13-year tenure as the face and the voice of the football program. Festus Athletic Director Eric Allen addresses the news.

In his time as the head coach, Coach Schmidt developed strong relationships with his student-athletes that Allen hopes continues with his role as the Industrial Technology teacher at the high school.

The search for a new football coach will commence either at the end of this week or early next week with the goal of having a recommendation to submit for approval at the February Board of Education meeting. In 13 seasons as the head football coach, the Tigers compiled a record of 81 and 59.
