Festus baseball’s magic run ends in state quarters on KJFF

(Hillsboro) The Festus Tigers had a terrific playoff run come to an end when they fell 11-5 to Rockwood Summit Saturday in the Class 5 state quarterfinals on KJFF.

Summit grabbed the initial lead and never gave it away.

The Falcons expanded that lead in the fourth.

Festus would rally to score in each of the last 3 innings, but they would strand the bases loaded 3 times.

Tigers head coach Jeff Montgomery says the result doesn’t change how great an effort his team gave in the postseason.

Festus ends the season at 15-15, but the Tigers won five of their final 6 games, including winning the Class 5 District 1 championship as the #5 seed.
