Festus Beats Ste. Genevieve 38-7
(FESTUS)    The Festus Tigers used two touchdowns from Hayden Bates and Landen Yates as the Tigers won at home over the Ste. Genevieve Dragons 38-7.
A first quarter interception led to the Tigers first score of the night by Hayden Bates.

The extra point was blocked and the score was 6-0.
With 1:11 to play in the first quarter, the Dragons got on the scoreboard on a 34 yard reception to Wyatt Springkamper.

The Dragons took a 7-6 lead on the extra. point.
The Tigers re-took the lead on a big pass to Landen Yates.

The two point conversion put the Tigers ahead 14-7
Festus scored again before halftime on a powering run after the catch by Hayden Bates

With the two point conversion, the Tigers held a 22-7 halftime lead.
The Tigers scored again late in the third quarter to make the score 30-7.
The last TD on the night by Festus came from Landen Yates.

Tigers Head Coach A.J. Ofodile says it was good to see his team do well in a season opener.

Ste. Genevieve Head Coach Jay Pope says despite the loss he was  pleased with his team.

Next Friday night September 1st, Ste. Genevieve will play Affton.  Festus will take their 1-0 record to Ste. Genevieve to face the Valle Catholic Warriors. The Warriors lost to Seckman 34-21.  You can hear that game on J-98, KJFF 1400AM and mymoinfo.com.
