Festus boil water advisory still in effect

(Festus) The boil water advisory in the City of Festus remains in effect until further notice. Festus City Administrator Greg Camp says it all stems from a major water main break on Saturday. He says the incident took place around noon.

Camp says the boil water advisory was placed on Saturday night.

The first set of water samples was sent this (Monday) morning and another sample will be submitted tomorrow (Tuesday). It’s likely the boil water advisory will continue until sometime on Wednesday.

Many businesses, mostly restaurants, in Festus were either closed today (Monday) or were open with certain services that were unavailable.

The Festus R-6 School District was closed today (Monday) due to the advisory.
