(FESTUS) After his Festus boys cross country team won the Class 3 State Championship for the 5th year in a row, 17th-year head coach Bryant Wright was voted on by his fellow coaches as the Regional Radio Fall 2018 Boys Cross Country Coach of the Year!

It’s Wright’s 10th such award since Boys Cross Country was introduced to the Dream Team back in 2007. As expected, coach Wright gave all of the credit to his runners.

With the Tigers’ 5th consecutive state championship, they are now two wins shy of tying Herculaneum’s run of 7 championships from the late 1970s through the early 80s. When asked if he’s been able to wrap his head around 5 state titles in a row, coach Wright says there’s time for that later.

Other coaches in Jefferson County that took home Regional Radio Coach of the Year awards were DeSoto’s girls cross country coach Aaron Young and Fox’s football head man Brent Tinker. The full Bryant Wright interview is here.
