(FESTUS) The Festus Tiger boys cross country team continued its historic run as state champs this past weekend, collecting its 6th straight Class 3 title at the state meet in Columbia. All five point-scoring members made All-State status, which requires a Top 25 finish.

Senior Simon Ogle finished 3rd, freshman Cullen Krieg finished 6th, senior Dominik Kayser placed 19th, senior Garrett Rhine was 20th, and junior Jacob Meyers was 21st.

This year’s team went through some injuries early on and dealt with the case of whooping cough towards the end, all of which made winning state even more impressive in Coach Bryant Wright’s eyes.

Coach Wright was complimentary of his four seniors and their efforts to make the team stronger.

The 6th straight state title for the Festus boys is the 2nd longest streak in Missouri history. The Herculaneum boys cross country program won 7 straight titles between 1977 and 1983 under Clark Willie.
