Festus Boys Cross Country State Medalists are Applebee’s Athletes of the Week

(FESTUS) The Festus Boys Cross Country medalists from the state Championship race are being honored as this week’s Applebee’s of Farmington Athletes of the Week following their Class 4 title over the weekend in Columbia. The team finished with a score of 91, just ahead of Platte County with 99 points and taking third place was Lincoln College Prep with 110 points. The six medalists for Festus were: Sophomore Carson Driemeier, juniors Lucas Campbell, Jimmy Wacker, Tate Uding, Aidan Cole, Lucas Kavanaugh and senior Bryson Rhine.

Head coach Bryant Wright says he was on vacation late in the summer and wasn’t sure what type of team they would have until after the Chili Pepper race in late September in Arkansas.

According to Wright, leadership and accountability are traits of a great team. Wright says the team magnified those qualities this season.

For being the Athletes of the week, each of the six runners from the state meet will receive a T-Shirt, a certificate and a coupon for a free entree at Applebee’s in Farmington.
