Festus’ Branch breaks through in football debut with Dream Team nod

(Festus) Arhmad Branch made quite an impression in his first football season with the Festus Tigers.

The junior wide receiver certainly left area coaches impressed, as he was voted on to the Regional Radio Dream Team.

After starring in basketball and track, Branch’s debut football season was dynamite.

He lead Festus with over 1,000 yards receiving, 10 touchdowns and an average of almost 31 yards a catch.

Branch says, when it came to deciding to finally take to the gridiron, the biggest influence was his head coach, A.J. Ofodile.

Branch took to the receiver position pretty seamlessly, leading the MAFC Red Division in receiving yards and earning first-team all-conference.

But he says there was plenty he had to learn, starting with breaking down opposing defenses.

And there are plenty of people who Branch says made his first season one to remember.

Branch was joined on the football Dream Team by his Tiger quarterback, senior Cole Rickermann.
