Festus claims 8th straight boys’ cross country state title

(Festus) One of the most impressive streaks in the history of Missouri high school sports rolled on earlier this month.

The Festus Tigers won a whopping eighth straight team state championship in boys’ cross country on November 5th.

Head coach Bryant Wright says breaking Herculaneum’s record of consecutive team titles came thanks to a historically dominant performance.

While senior Nathan Wolk and juniors Cullen Krieg and Ian Schram had top-ten finishes at the Class 4 state championships, it was senior Jacob Meyers who once again shined bright.

Wright says Meyers capped an incredible season by finishing second at the state meet in Columbia.

4 Tigers finished the course in a time of under 17 minutes.

But Wright believes that his program has plenty of great runners that are primed and ready to keep the streak alive next year.

Festus also had its girls team qualify for state and finish fifth in Class 4.

The 8 straight team state titles for the boys breaks a tie for most in a row with the Herculaneum Blackcats.
