Festus Fire Department adjusting after train derailment

(Festus) While Union Pacific personnel continue to clean the area in and around Larry G Crites memorial park, formerly West City Park, after Monday’s train derailment, the Festus Fire Department wants to remind residents that the train crossing remains closed. Chief Kevin Craemer says part of Old Highway A is closed.

Chief Creamer says with that area closed, it would cause some problems if the nearby neighborhoods had to get emergency services.

There were no injuries from Monday’s train derailment, and they hope to have the area cleaned up and the roadway back open in a few days.
