Festus Fire Department new air packs training

The Festus Fire Department just completed a week of training with their newly purchased air packs. The city recently purchased new self-contained breathing apparatus packs and they were put to the test as a simulator was set up in the city-owned building next to the Festus Public Library. Festus Fire Chief Jeff Broombaugh says the simulator is a maze for firefighters to go through to test their breathing under certain conditions.

Chief Broombaugh says it teaches the firefighters the “ins” and “outs” of the air packs.

The Crystal City Fire Department and the Mapaville Fire Protection District also took part in the training. Festus will continue to train this week with a pair of firefighters working together as a team to get through the simulator.
