(Festus) The Festus Tigers put together a strong performance and knocked off the Hillsboro Hawks 53-30 Thursday night on KJFF.

There were good omens for Festus right from the start.

Mya Courtois finished with a game-high 15 points and was the Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game.

But she got some help from Kinsey Benack.

Benack and Emily Holt scored 12 points each as the Tigers led by 12 at halftime and never looked back.

Head coach Steve McFarland said having this kind of balanced offense without a big night from star junior guard Josie Allen is hopefully becoming a trend for his team.

Festus wins its fifth of the last 6 games to improve to 3-1 in conference play and 12-4 overall.

Hillsboro falls to 5-9 overall and 2-2 in the JCAA Large-School Division.
