Festus Girls Basketball a Mix of Old and New in 2019

(FESTUS) The Festus girls basketball team that went 20-5 last season and held the best record of all the Jefferson County schools, will have their 3rd different coach in as many years as Chris Ellis has made way for Steve McFarland. McFarland has been coaching since 1979.

Bria Garmon’s leadership and nearly 3 steals a game last season will be missed this year as she has turned her focus to getting ready for a sand volleyball career at Central Arkansas. Abby McMillin’s 312 points and 51 blocks from last season will be missed as well as McMillin gets ready for track and field season.

SEMO softball commit Abby Rickermann though is coming back. Kate Todd is a newcomer to the team as she just finished up an All-State volleyball season. Coach McFarland expects those two and then some to make an impact.

Jesse Hebenstreit, Maddie Dearing, Ashley Wood, Samantha Helbrueck, Josie Allen, Taylor Thompson, Maya Curtois, Emily Holt, and Alayna Erxleben help round out the Festus Tiger girls basketball team. The Lady Tigers will be on the road for their first game of the 2019-2020 season as they face Pacific on Thursday, December 5th.
