Festus girls’ hoops relying on returners to take bigger roles

(Festus) The Festus Tigers will be slightly shorthanded in girls’ basketball compared to this time last year.

After going 9-13 last season, Festus loses all-conference guard Abby Rickermann, who lead the Tigers in scoring.

Junior guard Kinsey Benack, who was slated to return to the starting lineup, will also have to miss the season due to a knee injury.

But Festus head coach Steve McFarland says he actually thinks his team is going to make some strides.

McFarland is also excited about the potential of sophomore guard Josie Allen.

Festus starts the 2020-2021 campaign at Bayless Friday night.
