(FESTUS) The Festus Lady Tigers beat next door neighbor Herculaneum 71-44 at home Friday night on AM 1400 KJFF. The highlight of the night came late in the first quarter with a fancy pass by Festus forward Bria Garmon.

The game blew up in the 2nd quarter with the Tigers going on a 16-2 run to end the half, taking a 37-18 lead. Festus head coach Chris Ellis credits the defense for the 2nd-quarter spurt.

Herculaneum head coach Riley Blair says the team did a poor job of getting their best player in Paige Fowler an opportunity to make a major impact.

The loss puts the Blackcats at 6-4. They’ll return home for a game against Union next Thursday. The win puts the Tigers at 5-0 to start the season. Festus will return to the court on Monday at Central.
