(Festus) There will only be a limited number of people in the stands when football return to Festus Friday.

While the Tigers will host a preseason jamboree against Jackson Friday evening, Festus High School is only allowing a select number of spectators and enforcing social distancing measures.

Festus athletic director Eric Allen explains.

Every person entering Tiger Stadium must have a ticket and must be wearing a mask.

Allen says a similar plan should be in place for the first home football game of the season and other fall sports, but they are still evaluating the situation.

Students will have to fill out a form ahead of time with the names of their guests.

But even with all the precautions, Allen says he’s grateful to report the community has been understanding.

There will be no admission for Festus athletic events in the fall, and the school is planning to enhance its streaming coverage of sports this fall online.

The Dunklin School District has also announced it will implement a similar plan for Herculaneum High School.
