Festus making big plans for parks in 2024

(Festus) The City of Festus is closer to finalizing its next fiscal year budget which will begin in October. After a budget hearing and work session on Monday night, Festus is planning to make a big commitment to their parks for next year. Festus City Administrator Greg Camp says they are looking to add a splash pad and an all-accessible playground in Larry G. Crites Memorial Park.

The other big project will be replacing and renovating the pickleball courts at Jokerst Park. Camp says there are currently eight courts, and they plan to add a few more.

Festus has already received proposed bids for the renovations at Jokerst Park and that project will begin in the spring.

Camp says the budget for the next year is pretty solid.

Festus City is also planning on using funds from its reserves to help in these parks and recreation improvements and additions. The Festus City Council will finalize the new budget before the end of the month and take effect on October 1st.
