(FESTUS) The Festus softball Tigers picked up their first Jefferson County Conference victory of the season on Thursday by defeating St. Pius 10-0 in 5 innings on KJFF.

The bats were quiet through the first two innings before Tiger pitcher Morgan Green woke them up.

Shortstop Abby Rickermann drove in the next two runs for Festus in the bottom of the 4th. Then in the bottom of the 5th with the Tigers up 7-0, Festus piled it on as McKenzie McJunkins pulled through with runners on base.

Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game, Morgan Green, delivered the final blow with a single to right-center field to make it 10-0. Green backed up her 3 RBI’s with a 5-inning complete game shutout and 7 strikeouts. Festus head coach Jeff Montgomery says that Green deserved the player of the game honor.

Festus improves to 1-1 in the conference and 4-5 overall while St. Pius falls to 1-2 in the conference and 3-2 overall. The next softball game on KJFF will be Tuesday at 4:30 as Festus visits DeSoto for another Jefferson County Conference matchup.
