Festus’ Meyers named Dream Team Boys’ Cross Country Runner of the Year

(Festus) Jacob Meyers had a senior year to remember while running for the Festus Tigers.

Not only did he have his best career season and achieved a whole heaping of firsts, but he is also the Regional Radio Dream Team Athlete of the Year for boys’ cross country.

Meyers finished second at the Class 4 state championships after winning conference and district championships.

But this particular honor is one he’s been chasing for a while as well.

Meyers helped Festus win an impressive eighth straight team state championship for cross country this fall.

He says the key to his and his teammates’ success is to always be mindful of your physical well-being.

Meyers was joined on the Dream Team by junior Festus teammates Ian Schram and Cullen Krieg.

But he says plenty of other people helped him become the runner that he is today.

Meyers ran his top career time of 15:18 at the state championships, finishing just 3 seconds away from the individual title.
