Festus’ Partney named Dream Team Boys’ Track & Field Coach of the Year

(Festus) Chris Partney of the Festus Tigers is the 2022 Regional Radio Dream Team Coach of the Year for boys’ track and field.

Partney lead a Tiger team that finished third in the state in Class 4.

He says he’s grateful to the other coaches for this honor because he knows how good other teams were this past season.

Festus had success at the Class 4 championships in Jefferson City largely thanks to their distance runners.

Senior Jacob Meyers was the Dream Team boys’ track Athlete of the Year after winning state titles in the 800, 1600 and 3200-meter runs.

The 4-by-800-meter relay team brought home another state title as well.

But Partney says, most of the year, they wre shorthanded with distance runners, so they had other athletes perform at a high level.

And Partney is quick to acknowledge his assistants, saying it takes an army to run a successful track team.

Senior Kaian Roberts-Day finishing third in the shot put brought the Festus boys to 5 total state medals.
