Festus Post 253 exploring options for baseball in July

(Festus, Mo.) There is still hope for some American Legion baseball this summer in Jefferson County.

Festus Post 253 is exploring options for playing games.

Head coach Zac Bone says the biggest factor in getting a schedule made is, naturally, having opponents to schedule.

Bone says, as late as these discussions are beginning, a long season is not an option.

So, while the particulars are not set in stone, Bone says the preliminary idea is to practice late in June and play as many games as possible during the month of July.

The American Legion baseball was officially cancelled for Missouri teams on April 30th.

The American Legion called off official postseason play, including the Legion World Series, and chose not to sponsor any games that might be played this summer across the nation.
