Festus R-VI Distinguished Service Award Going to Bob Hollmann
(FESTUS)    The Festus R-VI School District announces the recipient of its first-ever Distinguished Service Award will go to former high school head football coach Bob Hollmann.  The award recognizes Mr. Hollmann’s contributions as a dedicated coach, mentor, and administrator throughout his career in the Festus R-VI School District.
Coach Hollmann played football at Fredericktown High School and then at Southeast Missouri State University.  He began working at Festus R-6 in 1966 as an assistant varsity football coach and a middle school physical education teacher.   He became the 8th & 9th grade football coach in 1969.
In 1979, Hollmann became the head coach leading the team to three state final four appearances, a coaching record of 132-39 and a winning percentage of .771.  He stepped down from coaching in 1994 and became the Athletics/Activities Director until he retired in 2000.
Hollmann says he is surprised and humbled with the award.

According to Hollmann, during his tenure he enjoyed working with the administration.

Harold Oetting is counted as one of Hollmann’s closest friends.  Oetting was a Festus school board member when Hollmann was a coach.  For many years, they officiated high school basketball games together.  Oetting says Hollman had the respect of his football players and fellow faculty members.

Bob Hollmann will be honored during the “Back to School” convocation held in the Festus R-VI Performing Arts Center on Thursday, August 17th.
