Festus, Rock Memorial collide in crucial Legion showdown on KJFF

2 of the top teams in District 13 collide with first place on the line when Festus Post 253 hosts Rock Memorial in American Legion baseball Wednesday on KJFF.

Both teams find themselves near the top of the district standings, but they’ve done so in different ways.

Rock Memorial has relied on an explosive offense.

Gabe King, Trevor Quick, Nolan Estopare and Josh Herget are pacing a lineup that’s scored over 150 runs and posted a team batting average just under .300 during a 13-9 campaign.

Rock head coach Danny Sigman says his lineup is taking their potential and learning how to translate that into professional at-bats.

Meanwhile, Festus 253 has leaned on pitching to win eight straight and improve to 15-6.

Hunter Bassin, Daylen Whitener, Dylan Schnitzler and Connor Hulsey have lead the way for a rotation with an earned-run average just over 3.

253 assistant coach Drew Horrell says depth is the key to their success.

The winner has the inside track to the top seed in next week’s district tournament in Ste. Genevieve.

Festus faces Rock Memorial Wednesday evening hoping for redemption for a loss in their earlier meeting this season.

Pregame coverage starts at 5:15 on AM 1400 KJFF.
