Festus Schools release 2020-21 plans

(Festus) An extensive plan was released by several area school districts when it comes to what the upcoming school year will look like when school resumes next month. Festus R-6 Superintendent Dr. Link Luttrell says they plan to have in-class options and a remote option depending on what the families decide to do.

Dr. Lutrell says they plan to keep students in groups which can help to contact trace in case positive cases of Covid-19 are found.

Some of the highlights of the plan call for Chromebooks for students in grades 7 to 12 to take home at all times, and grades 1 to 6 to take home in the event of a full closure, face coverings will be required for students and staff, hand sanitizer in all classrooms, and assigned seating on school buses.

Dr. Luttrell says the current plan could change leading up to the first day of the school year.

Festus R-6 is scheduled to begin the 2020-21 school year on Monday, August 24th.
