Festus Shuts Out Windsor 8-0 for District Title
(FESTUS)    The Festus Tigers are moving on to the next round in the Class 5 state baseball tournament following Monday’s 8-0 win over the Windsor Owls.  The game was broadcast on 1400AM KJFF and mymoinfo.com.
The Tigers will host Clayton on Saturday, game time is yet to be determined.  Tiger’s head coach Jeff Montgomery says his team put it all together for the win.

The Tigers starting pitcher, lefty Mason Schirmer limited the Owls to just one hit.  Schirmer struggled somewhat in the first inning but he got out of a jam as the defense turned a double play behind him.   Schirmer then settled down and during a stretch from the second inning to the 5th, he set down ten in a row.  He was relieved at the start of the seventh inning by Nate Moore who the Owls out  in order to end the game.
Festus Coach Jeff Montgomery says Schirmer has great composure for a sophomore.

The hitting stars for the Tigers included Braden Montgomery who doubled home the first two Festus runs in the second inning.  Hayden Bates drilled a solo homer in the third, Cole Skaggs singled in two runs in the 6th and Brady Nolen plated two with a two RBI triple also in the 6th.
Windsor Coach Randy Green says he is proud of his team and the season they put together.

Green says its tough to say goodbye to eight seniors:  Austin Happel, Max Hartmann, Nelson Karnowski, Brayden Kreutz, Quinton Peterson, Greg West and A.J. Bellanger.

Owls starter Austin Happel pitched five innings, he gave up three runs on 8 hits  He struck out four, and walked one.
Tiger Mason Schirmer threw six innings of shutout ball, he allowed only one hit, walked three, struck out 6, and he hit a batter.
The Owls end their season at 16-15 and the Tigers move on with a record of 24-8 to face Clayton who is 14-16 this season.  KJFF will broadcast Saturday’s game, and we will let you know the start time as soon as that news is made available.
